Daily Fantasy Basketball: Studs/Duds/Sleepers for 3/9/2016
By: Ray Levay (@Ray_Levay13 on the FL App)
Recap of Yesterday’s Lineups:
- DraftKings: 218.25pts (w/ Jason Smith in for Garrett Temple)
- FanDuel: 248.2pts
- It was a really rough day in terms of lineups, hoping today will be a much better day
Today’s Studs:
- Kyrie Irving ($7,800)

- Kyrie has been shooting the ball very well lately. He has an amazing matchup with the Sacramento Kings who rank 29th against opposing PGs and I expect this to be a high-scoring affair. His potential for tonight is sky high and I could see him easily ending up with 30pts/10ast/5reb.
2. Alex Len ($6,600)

- Len has been on an absolute tear the past couple games with double-doubles in 5 straight contests and 50+ fantasy points in 3 of those. He’s in another great matchup with the Knicks tonight who rank in the lower half against opposing Cs. The price tag is starting to get high so enjoy Len at lower prices while you still can.
3. Kevin Durant ($10,600)

- KD has been RED hot the past week or so. He’s scored 60+ fantasy points in 5 of his last 6 games. In fact, one of those came against tonight’s opponent, the LA Clippers. I expect CP3 to contain Westbrook tonight, so Durant will have to shoulder more of the scoring load. The sky is the limit with him tonight.
Tonight’s Duds:
- Rajon Rondo ($7,900)

- I’m not a big fan of Rondo tonight for many reasons. First of all, he’s not a very good scorer. He will get his 10+ assists tonight probably, but I don’t expect him to do much else. In addition, he is in a tough matchup against the Cavs who rank 9th against opposing PGs. In my opinion, there’s much better options to go with than the former UK Wildcat.
2. Rudy Gobert ($6,600)

- I’m usually a fan of Gobert, but I’m not tonight. He’s in a very tough matchup against the Golden State Warriors who rank 1st against opposing Cs. Not only that, but this game could easily turn into a blowout because I don’t see the Jazz keeping up with the Warriors. Plus, Golden State at home? That has blowout written all over it. There’s better options at C tonight.
3. Chandler Parsons ($6,400)

- I’m not a fan of Parsons tonight mainly due to his tough matchup. The Pistons rank 5th against opposing SFs and I’m expecting Harris or Morris to give him a tough time tonight. Not only that, but there are many better options than him so I’m staying away.
Tonight’s Sleepers:
- The Memphis Grizzlies

- Yes, I’m a huge fan of most of their team tonight. Mike Conley, Zach Randolph and Chris Anderson are all expected to be out. That means guys like Mario Chalmers ($5,200), JaMychal Green ($4,500), Lance Stephenson ($4,400), Tony Allen ($4,500) and Vince Carter ($3,700) are going to be expected to step up. Not only that, but I like their matchup against the Celtics. I’d strongly advise to have at least two of them in your lineup tonight because we all saw what happened two nights ago.
2. Hollis Thompson ($3,900)

- I absolutely love Thompson’s matchup tonight. As we know, James Harden isn’t exactly known for his defense so I expect Hollis to be able to return 5 times the value of his price tag. He has a lot of upside especially with Okafor expected to be out again, so they’ll need some scoring.
3. Shelvin Mack ($4,300)

- I like Mack a lot tonight. He’s in a so-so matchup tonight but I expect him to log a lot of court time. In order for the Jazz to keep up with the Warriors, they’re gonna need their guards to score a lot. I think Mack makes for a great low-price option at point guard tonight and could put up a game looking like 15pts/4reb/6ast.
Other Options I Like:
- Jabari Parker ($6,300)
- This is more of a gut call then anything. At first, it appears as if Jabari is in an extremely tough matchup against the Heat, but truly he isn’t. The Heat are very thin down low and Hassan Whiteside is considered questionable as well. With that being said, even if Whiteside plays, I still think that Parker will put up formidable numbers tonight.
2. Kemba Walker ($8,300)
- He’s in a great matchup tonight and has been absolutely carrying the Hornets lately. I think he has big potential to have a 50+ fantasy point night especially because the Pelicans rank 24th against opposing PGs.
3. James Harden ($10,700)
- He’s in a great matchup tonight against the 76ers. I’m expecting big numbers for him while he’s out on the court because I don’t think the 76ers will have an answer for him. The only question is, how much court time will he actually get? This could turn into a blowout fast which is why he just missed the studs list. But, if it’s going to turn into a blowout, “The Beard” will be the reason why.
Tonight’s Lineups:
- DraftKings: PG: Kyrie Irving, SG: Hollis Thompson, SF: Kevin Durant, PF: JaMychal Green, C: Alex Len, G: Mario Chalmers, F: Donatas Motiejunas, UTIL: Kemba Walker
- Note: Motiejunas is more of a punt play for tonight, although I expect him to get 20+ minutes and he’s been starting for the Rockets and he may get garbage time in a blowout.
- FanDuel: PGs: Kyrie Irving & Mario Chalmers, SGs: James Harden & Lance Stephenson, SFs: Kevin Durant & Hollis Thompson, PFs: Nerlens Noel & JaMychal Green, C: Alex Len
- Note: Noel is expected to play, but if he’s out or not starting, then Porzingis in for him.
